Four Ways to Get Your Best Self Ready in 2024

The holiday season often brings a flurry of activity, leaving us little time for reflection.  As 2023 draws to an end, now is the perfect opportunity to become more of your best self before embarking on the new year.  Try these four mindfulness practices to close out the year feeling balanced and ready to take on 2024.

  1. Close the Incomplete Business of 2023

Review any lingering goals, commitments, or promises you made for 2023.  Whether you want to lose those last 10 pounds, write a book, or clean out the basement, re-evaluate your progress.  If they didn’t happen, change the agreement.   If you fell short, acknowledge what you did accomplish, then adjust the goals to be more reasonable for the coming year.  Completing things, even in small ways, brings peace and gives you more space to think clearly instead of occupying spaces in your life that are reserved for more.

2. Cross Off One Nagging Task

Choose at least one small task you’ve been putting off – visiting a relative, organizing a drawer, cleaning the refrigerator,  finishing a work project – and commit to crossing it off your list before December 31st.  Getting a single nagging chore done can lift your spirits.  You’ll start 2024 unencumbered by old baggage.

3. Celebrate This Year’s Joys

Make a list of all the things that brought you joy, success, and celebration in 2023.  Get specific and really relive each positive memory.  What gets celebrated gets repeated.  When we focus on the positives and celebrate the good times, we wire our brains for more happiness going forward.  Carry that feeling of gratitude and contentment into the new year.

4. Clear the Path with the Medicine Wheel Meditation

The Medicine Wheel Practice is the perfect solution for when life has become chaotic and we feel the need to have a good footing in life, more harmony, grounding, and healing.  Imagine a wheel of energy restoring balance in your life; that’s what the Medicine Wheel does.  Most people will do it around the Winter Solstice,  January 1st, or when life calls for a reset button.  You can find instructions for creating a personalized Medicine Wheel at https://bmwisdom.thinkific.com/courses/the-medicine-wheel

The new year represents an opportunity for renewal.  By practicing mindfulness now, you become more of your best self, ready to blossom in 2024.  I Wish everyone a warm, peaceful holiday season and a new year filled with growth and joy!
