Women’s Way

On this International Women’s Day, I find myself in awe of the incredible strength and spirit of the female soul.  We women are life bearers, caregivers, lovers, sages, fathers, queens, and warriors.  Our hearts are vast galaxies, ever-expanding with fiery passions and eternal nurturing love.

From the moment we first feel those unique flutters of new life within our wombs, something primal and powerful awakens.  An unstoppable force takes root – the determination to nurture and protect this tiny being at any cost.  We become radiant, ferocious, elevated versions of ourselves during the awesome journey of motherhood.

Even those who never birth children biologically still carry this profound mothering energy inside.  We pour our maternal love into caring for partners, family members, friends, pets, or causes that need devotion and time.  Our way is to build homes within our very chests – shelters of compassion, empathy, and unending reserves of comfort.

Our feminine fire rages brilliantly at different radiance.  We are artists painting the world with our unique visions, talents, and aspirations.  We shape societies with our innovations and boundary-breaking audacity.  With every glass ceiling smashed and every barrier destroyed, the force of our collective spirit shines brighter.  The path is long, but we don’t give up.

I see the lionhearted spirit of women all around me, in faces both celebrated and unsung.  The refugee mother shields her children while trekking across deserts and oceans with only what she can carry on her back.  The village leader is advocating for clean drinking water and education for girls against all patriarchal resistance.  The fearless activists are writing, marching, and risking everything to secure freedoms for their sisters globally and the rest of us who unite with a vision of an easier way for women.

I see it in my own mother, who held our family together through turbulent times, a quiet pillar of hope.  And she wasn’t alone.  Generations of strong women roared quietly so their daughters could be just a bit ahead and dream of reaching a bit further.

I see the heart of a woman dressed as a wife who builds empires with her brilliant mind while still pouring endless nurturing into her relationship and household.

I see it in my brave daughters, forging their own paths – one a healer, the other a giver- both fierce and soft at once.  Their mother hearts have awakened already, shaping the world with visionary compassion for all those whose paths they will one day cross.

The way of the woman is a paradox of delicate intensity and understated power.  We are gentle yet relentless, yielding yet protective to our core.  Our emotional landscapes span seemingly infinite.

In our calm center lies the wisdom of the ages, intuitive and deep as the ocean’s darkest depths.  We feel the world’s joys and sorrows coursing through us and yet emerge buoyant, with an unbreakable spirit equal to any storm that dares challenge us.  We are life-bearers and life-nurturers.  Strengths and shelters.  The very heart of humanity itself.

So today, I pause to admire and honor the majesty of a woman’s heart in all its boundless splendor.  To revel in the privilege of witnessing and sharing in its sacred metamorphosis from maiden to mother to sage to queen.  For as the radiant feminine energy blossoms and rises within each of us, humanity is forever changed, forever evolved, in her beautiful wake.
