Is It a Butt Dial… or a Heart Dial?

Have you ever called someone by accident or sent an email to the wrong person, and then cringed? Before you dismiss it as a mistake or coincidence, consider this: what if your soul was trying to get a message through? What if it wasn’t a butt dial at all, but a heart dial?

Last week, my phone “mysteriously” called my friend.  We hadn’t spoken in months. It was 11:30 p.m. I hung up in panic, texted an apology… and she replied, “I actually needed to hear your voice today.” I didn’t think emojis could change moments that deeply.  Then, I remembered: life often nudges us toward the conversation we’ve been avoiding, the boundary we need to set, or the love we need to give or receive.

Three Ways to Tell It’s a Heart Dial

1. There’s meaning in the timing. Maybe you’ve been thinking of them. Maybe they’ve been on your heart. The “accident” arrives right when it matters.

2. Your body knows. After the oops, you feel a tug in your chest, warmth in your face, or a flutter in your belly. Sensations are sacred messengers.

3. It points toward repair or a deeper truth. The misfire highlights where something wants attention: an overdue thank you, an honest conversation, a needed goodbye, or a simple “I’m thinking of you.”

The heart is a powerful prayer. When our hearts ache for connection, healing, or truth, they often reach beyond logic. The heart carries intentions we haven’t spoken, forgiveness we haven’t offered, gratitude we’ve been too shy to express. Without us realizing, it sends out signals, like a prayer, and sometimes, technology simply becomes the channel.

The next time you make an accidental call, pause. Place your hand over your heart, breathe in for a count of four, out for six—three times, and whisper:

What Prayer of Mine Might This Be Answering?

Let your intuition guide you. Maybe it’s time to reach out with honesty. Maybe it’s time to listen. Or maybe it’s simply a reminder that we are more connected than we realize.

Because I have learned, the heart dials differently than the mind. And when it does, it carries the weight of something larger than coincidence; it carries the quiet force of grace.

If you have been thinking about someone or an event you can’t dismiss, take it to heart.  Trust the first inspiration that arises. Send the text. Make the call. Or gently close the loop.
